The franchise actually dates back to 1953, though it started out in Baltimore before relocating to Indianapolis in 1984, a move that’s part of the team’s history but hasn’t changed the core logo much. Blue and white have stayed the colors throughout, and the horseshoe, simple and instantly recognizable, has been the team’s mark since well before the Indianapolis years.

Most NFL logos try to pack in a mascot face or a full graphic scene. The Colts went the opposite direction, one clean shape, and it’s held up as one of the more distinctive marks in the league precisely because it doesn’t try to do too much. That simplicity actually makes it forgiving to stitch well, the curve holds its shape wash after wash.

A vintage “C” letter design pulls from an older stretch of the team’s branding, useful if you’re after something that reads as more retro than the current horseshoe. There’s also a full wordmark patch, “Colts” spelled out, for anyone who wants text rather than the symbol alone.

Every colts patch here is embroidered, not printed. On a design this minimal, that distinction is less about hiding fine detail (there isn’t much to hide) and more about keeping the horseshoe’s edge crisp instead of letting it fray or peel at the curve.
